| From the deep mysterious shrouded jungles of Borneo, North
Americans will for the first time have the rare benefit of experiencing
unique Sape melodies presented by Lan-E-Tuyang. Sape music hit the
global stage at the Worldwide Music Expo in Palais du Pharo in Marseilles,
France in 1997. The enchanting trancelike tune was so powerful,
the international world music community was moved to tears.
The team of 7 master musicians and artisans from Sarawak, Malaysia
Borneo is performing in 7 US cities (La Jolla, Santa Monica, Santa
Ana in CA; Washington DC; Boston; New York, Honolulu) and 3 Canadian
cities (Montreal; Toronto; Vancouver) commencing June 1. Audience
will also have an exclusive opportunity to view artisans demonstrating
the ancient arts of Borneon ikat weaving, batik painting and traditional
dances. At all venues (except Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles), the
team will be accompanied by Tourism Malaysia cultural troupes who
will present various traditional Malaysian dances to add variety
to concerts.
The tour is sponsored by Tourism Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines, Sarawak
Tourism Board, North America Asean Consultants Inc., and co-sponsored
by various American and Canadian music and arts societies. Log on
