PATRON AND MINISTER FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM AT A PRESS
CONFERENCE IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE HANDING OVER OF CELCOM PRESENTER'S
SPONSORSHIP
ON APRIL 9, 2008.
We are very pleased to have Celcom to be the presenter of
this year's Rainforest Music Festival which will be held in
July 11-13, 2008.
Their response to our call was indeed timely as we look forward
to have more corporate bodies to come forward to co-brand
their product with this internationally acclaimed world-class
music festival for a meaningful business partnership.
It is our hope that Celcom will continue to be a partner
in the many years to come and to benefit from the cross branding.
Celcom has shown their best in their corporate social responsibility
and we laud their efforts. Hopefully other big companies will
be able to follow suit in assisting tourism related events
that are being organized in the state of Sarawak.
Celcom, besides being presenter of the Rainforest Music Festival
will also be one of the main sponsors for the Miri International
Jazz Festival which will be held in Miri on May 9-10, 2008.
Besides, they will be involved in the organizing previews
of the two festivals in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching and Miri nearer
the festival date which we will announce soon
The Rainforest World Music Festival is now in the advance
stage of preparation and I am sure many festival goers are
looking forward to this festival and the number of log in
into the festival websites testify of this.
For now we have confirmed groups that we have lined up for
the 11th edition of the festival.
The groups are:

3. HIROSHI MOTOFUJI - JAPAN
4. OIKYOTAAN - INDIA
5. CHOLO VALDERAMMA - COLOMBIA
6. NEW ROPE STRING BAND - UK
7. YAKANDE - GAMBIE/GUINEE
8. PINIKPIKAN - PHILIPPINES
9. ADEL SALAMEH - PALESTINE
10. FADOMORSE - PORTUGAL
11. ANAK JATI ORCHESTRA - SARAWAK
12. SARAWAK CULTURAL VILLAGE - SARAWAK
13. KANI'D - SARAWAK
We still have yet to confirm a few more international groups
as we are waiting for them to respond officially with their
final listing of group's members and their traveling itinerary
into Sarawak.
