BOOKINGS FOR RWMF LIMITED EDITION BOOKS OVERWHELMING

Bookings for the limited edition books anniversary book for Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) have been overwhelming.

Since Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) announced the online booking for the book on June 21, a total of 700 bookings have been made to date.

Entitled “Music Without Borders…Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawak”, the book was produced by STB to commemorate RWMF 10th anniversary this year.

The 256-page full colour book is written by Heidi Munan and published by Marshall Cavendish (M) Sdn Bhd.

The books will only be available from July 12 at the Visitors Information Centre and STB merchandise stall at the festival venue at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV). Each book is priced RM125.

Written in a casual style, this book documented the chronology of the RWMF since it started in 1998. More than 500 pictures taken during the last nine years of the festival are included in the book.

Only 5,000 copies of the book will be available in the market and STB will not reprint the book after the stock finish. Of the 5,000 copies, only 500 are available on Amazon.com.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, STB has also invited 20 bands to perform at the upcoming festival to be stage from July 13 to 15 at SCV. Of the 20 groups, only Fady and Band is performing the first time. The others had performed either once or twice at the previous edition of the RWMF.

The other performers are Huun Huur Tu who will perform with Malerija from Tuva and Russia, Tarika Be (Madagascar), Jerry Kamit (Sarawak), Khac Chi (Vietnam), Shannon (Poland), Mah Meri (Malaysia), Doghouse Skiffle Group (UK), Tabuh Pak Ainal (Sarawak), Ensemble Kaboul (Afghanistan), Inka Marka (Peru, Chile, Australia), Kelapang Bamboo Band (Sarawak), Foghorn Stringband (USA), Tammorra (Italy), Shooglenifty (Scotland), Black Umfolosi (Zimbabwe), Anak Adi’ Rurum (Sarawak), Randy Raine Reusch (Canada), Mas Y Mas (UK) and Aseana Percussion Unit (Malaysia).

Tickets for the festival, priced at RM80 for a one-day pass and RM200 for a three-day pass for those above 13 years old, are available online at www.ticketcharge.com.my and also at all of STB’s Visitors Information Centre in Kuching (018-410944), Sibu (084-340980) and Miri (085-434180).
