BOOKING FOR RWMF BOOK NOW OPEN

The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) anniversary book is now available for order via online booking as from today (June 21).
The 206-page limited edition book will be available from July 12 and those who have made the booking can collect the book between July 12 and 15. The collection centre are either at the Visitor’s Information Centre at Sarawak Tourism Complex or at Sarawak Tourism Board’s Merchandise stall during the festival at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV).
Entitled “Music Without Borders…The Rainforest World Music Festival in Sarawk”, the book is authored by Heidi Munan and published by Marshall Cavendish (M) Sdn Bhd for Sarawak Tourism Board. The publication of the book was to coincide with the 10th anniversary celebration of the festival.

Available only in soft-cover the book is priced at RM125 each and its content includes more than 500 pictures taken at the RWMF over the last nine years as well as the chronology of the development of the festival since 1998. It also has chapters on comments from volunteers, the media members who had covered the event previously and the festival followers.
A chapter is also dedicated to all the performers who had took centre stage at the RWMF from 1998 till last year.
Written in a casual style for leisure reading, this full-colour book is an ideal collector’s item.
The book is scheduled to be launch just before the actual festival date and STB has invited the Chief Minister Pehin Seri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud to do the honour.
This year the festival will be held from July 13 to 15 at SCV and STB has confirmed 20 groups performing at the anniversary celebration. The groups that will performed are Huun Huur Tu from Tuva and Russia, Tarika Be (Madagascar), Jerry Kamit (Sarawak), Khac Chi (Vietnam), Shannon (Poland), Mah Meri (Malaysia), Doghouse Skiffle Group (UK), Tabuh Pak Ainal (Sarawak), Ensemble Kaboul (Afghanistan), Inka Marka (Peru, Chile, Australia), Kelapang Bamboo Band (Sarawak), Foghorn Stringband (USA), Tammora (Italy), Shooglenifty (Scotland), Black Umfolosi (Zimbabwe), Anak Adi’ Rurum (Sarawak), Randy Raine Reusch (Canada), Mas Y Mas (UK), Aseana Percussion Unit (Malaysia) and Fadi and the Group (Syria).
Tickets for the festival, priced at RM80 for a-day pass and RM200 for a three-day pass for those above 13 years old, are available online at www.ticketcharge.com.my and Visitor’s Information Centre in Kuching.
The RWMF which won the PATA Gold Award last year, has been listed as one of the top 50 events to be promoted extensively under the Visit Malaysia Year 2007.
The event is supported by Ministry of Tourism Malaysia and Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism Sarawak and endorsed by Tourism Malaysia.
