We are please to inform you that planning is going on smoothly to put up a big show on July 11 - 13, 2008. Preliminary preparations are well underway including group selections, construction of new stages, and rearrangements of vendor’s site. We are looking forward to bring the best festival this year, in anticipation of bigger crowd and top-notched performers.

Our selection committee is working “over the hours” selecting from more than 400 applications received from international groups which expressed interest to perform in this year’s festival. Meanwhile, we hope to announce the line up, trimming the numbers to 16, by end February before we can post the performers listing in the website.

We are also pleased to inform you that we will introduce the RWMF’s fringe events this year to give our audience a more value-added stay in the city.

Watch out for the RAINFOREST WORLD CRAFT BAZAAR 2008 which will be held from July 9 - 15 at the Annexe of Sarawak Museum. Organized in collaboration with the Sarawak Crafts Council, this event brings together world crafters to Sarawak to portray world collections and designs of crafts. Booths will also be set at the Sarawak Cultural Village and festival audience will have a chance for a ‘sneak preview” of valuable traditional crafts from all over the world being displayed and for sale.

A FOLKS ARTS FORUM with the theme “OUR CULTURE OUR PEOPLE” will also be held on July 9 – 11 at the Sarawak Cultural Village. This event is organized by Galleria with collaboration with the Sarawak Tourism Board, bringing together some renowned international as well as our own local artists. The forum comprises of workshops and art exhibition on July 10 – 13 at the Orang Ulu house.
